So what does “Fair Trade” mean, anyway? Oxfam International defines fair trade as a partnership based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. In other words, it’s a way of choosing transformational over transactional relationships in the marketplace, preserving the dignity of all parties involved. Our particular non-profit sale seeks to increase income for artisans in developing nations so they can provide hope for their families and communities. But in the end, it is our hope that it is we who are changed as we rediscover how to connect not only to those who receive our gifts but also to those who make them.
